Remington 660 bases

I just bought a Remington 660 bolt gun in .243 Win. from a pawn shop. The rifle seems to be in great shape for an older gun. I have a couple of questions. It came with a Redfield Widefield 3x9 scope (TV tube looking) and a one piece redfield base and rings that I don't like. What 2 piece bases can I use? Does the Remington model 7 have the same screw hole dimensions? What about the short action model 700?
The next question is about the trigger/safety on it. Is the 600/660/Mohawk trigger/safety the same as the model 700/721. It has the 2 position safety, with the bolt being locked when the safety is engaged.
According to the internet research I've done, this rifle was recalled in 1979 and has a V stamped on the barrel.
The V stamping is supposed to signify that the recall was done.
I had 2 accidental discharges with an old model 700, so I don't really trust Remington factory trigger/safetys.
I definitely want to install another Timney. Thanks for any information you can give me.
