Now that you have your Concealed Weapon Permit, do you still keep a firearm in your vehicle ?

Not anymore. Went through a rough couple years and all my firearms are gone except for my old H&R breakbarrel which is loaded and in my safe next to my bed. I just have a pair of Kimber pepper blasters in my truck. I have a wife now so when we're out and about I throw one in my pocket for security and peace of mind from common drugged up punks.

Normally, I have my primary and BUG on me. I also have a .40 between the seats, concealed, plus my M-1 Carbine, .22 rifle and .22 pistol behind the seat concealed.

Right now my .40 isn't in there cuz I'm going to give it to a friend.

In my state, concealed has to be on the person. Open carry is on the person. Anything else is, gun in trunk and mag in car cab (like a glove box is preferred but not stated). Trucks are a bit grey area but behind seat and mag in glover box should suffice but check with local LEO to be sure. Having a loaded pistol between the seats or under it can get your gun confiscated if found in my state. Most of the LEO's are decent and don't care as long as they can see your hands during their involvement with community from what I have been told by some deputies and city police. I have done a random asking to be sure. If you get pulled over, just stick it in your pocket if conceal carry.

Here in beautiful California concealed carry means concealed and on your person. It is generally illegal to have a loaded, accessible weapon in your vehicle in California in populated areas (out in the woods is ok as long as the chamber is empty.) The ONLY way that it is ever legal to have a loaded weapon in a vehicle with a round in the chamber is with a CCW, concealed on your person. So, if I'm in a populated area on public roads, I only have my concealed weapon on my person. Out in the woods I always have a long gun as well, chamber empty.

I've read a lot of references about the law and weapons in California. They just keep getting curiouser and curiouser.
One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome. Another is California gun laws. Neither accomplishes anything desirable.

My pretty guns don't go for a ride unless they are in their case. (Sr762 or Ga precision build.)
Truck/quad/horse traveling is typically 2 of the 3 rifles pictured along with a 1022.

I live in the country, but if city life was for me, then my beater wasr10 only.

I have issues with feral pigs around here and shoot all I see on sight.
They typically don't have the patience to wait until I encase the beater M14, so she is kept handy. The stock is a synthetic M14 service rifle stock, so if it gets banged up, I hit it up with some spray paint again.
That specific rifle has had 2 re park jobs on her metal since I built her.
Every ding and dent the park and paint doesn't hide usually brings back good memories of how it got there. I don't keep any guns in the truck overnight.

In Illinois you can have a gun in your console as long as the mag is out of it. The mag can be loaded right next to it but not in the gun. You can also have it in a pistol case or box with the mag right next to it. No ccw needed for this.

I would not leave one of my guns in my car or truck. I like my guns way to much to let them rust or get stolen.

I live in rural Az. & Id. Keltec P11 in the door pocket, loaded SKS w/100 rds behind the seat. CCW in both states. Weapons never leave the car. Shoot both about once a month to stay somewhat proficient. I stay out of Ca. and try my best to spend as little time in Clark County Nv as possible when traveling between.

i always have a .22 BUG in my glove box. In florida as long as the pistol is "encased" it is legal to carry a loaded firearm in your vehicle. Even without a ccw permit. The glove box is considered encased. However if you have a loaded firearm in your glove box it is illegal to store anything an officer may ask for with it (registration & proof of insurance). So I keep those in the visor. I do however have a specialized push button trigger lock bolted to the side of the glove box, so if my car is broken into they still cant get the pistol.

Before we had a CCW law here, I had one in the vehicle when I was in the vehicle.
When I got out to go in a store or something, it was under the seat.
This was not legal.
Now with a CCW, I have one in the vehicle when I am in the vehicle.
When I get out and go to a store or something, it goes with me.
This is legal.

I only leave a gun in the vehicle when I am forced to enter the USPO or the court house.
No reason to leave one in there when I don't have to, as I never could teach a car how to safely handle a firearm.

I carry open but here in Missouri, CC and open can put their handguns in the glovebox, but I usually either have it in cross draw or on my truck's dash in plain sight.
I did forget about it and walk into the gas station while a city cop was in there but he told me that he's glad to see someone exercising their 2nd Amendment right, it made me think about where I can and can not carry one. So make sure you check your state's firearm laws.

Before we had CCW here in TX, I still carried. It was illegal. When I got out of the car to go in the store, I still carried. Concealed. It was still illegal.

Now we have legal CC, and I still carry. But now it's legal. If I have to go into a building that has metal detectors, and it's not legal to carry there, I lock it up in the car with a bicycle lock to the seat frame (gun under seat, out of sight). If there are no metal detectors I carry anyway, legal, or not. At the State Capital, they have metal detectors, but it's legal to carry there so long as you have a legal CCW permit. You just get to go around the metal detectors after showing your CCW.

My EDC is with me at all times, and easy to get to when I'm in the car.
