I found some .40 caliber rimfire cartridges in a box of old ammo that I bought. Any idea if they are worth anything? Where would be a good place to try and sell these if they are any good?
They are 41, not 40. For the Remington double-derringer. The U stands for Union Metallic Cartridge, a cartridge company that Remington bought, becoming Remington UMC.
Any idea what the diamond stands for? Thanks for the help. I checked them with a caliper and they are .40 in diameter - just right for a .41 caliber pistor I guess.
That diamond is Western Cartridge Company. They also headstamped WCC on centerfire stuff. Winchester bought them, which is why Winchester is WW - Winchester Western.
I found some listed for sale, on Armslist, last year. He had eleven rounds, and he wanted 45 bucks for 'em. Don't know whether they sold or not, but that'll give you some kind of value idea. Also found an auction from 2013. Two full boxes - 100 rounds. Sold for 201 bucks. http://www.gunauction.com/buy/12173708
