I think it's from the 1950s and could be worth $15.00 - $25.00 perhaps.
Like all things collectable, condition is everything and it depends a lot upon on how badly someone needs it for their collection. There isn't a lot of value in most of the run of the mill cans out there.
This one is still sitting in the powder cabinet. I keep threatening to take to the gun show to see if anyone wants it. Darned shipping requirements makes impracticable to send it to someone.
No date that I can find. I have had that can of powder for at least 35 years. I don't remember when, where or how I acquired it. That was too long ago.
I bought a can of H 4895 back in 1967. Bought it at J C Penneys was marked .99cents. I do not know if it is actually a can as the top and bottom are metal, but the container is cardboard.
I just happened to be in a locked storage cabinet of mine I don't frequent and took the opportunity to take a couple of pics of this unopened can of 2400 I keep inside. It's right around the age of the 2400 can posted by todd51
Actually, because the can is in such new condition and it's seal isn't broken, I sealed it in heat shrink myself to protect it.
Around twelve years ago I invested in a heat shrink setup for all of my collectable ammo, primers and such. A lot of the big time collectors I was in contact with were using the method and I figured that was good enough of an endorsement for me. I've used it a great deal and feel it's earned it's keep.
The oval dupont bp cans phased out about 1960.
After that it was a regular quart size can -
same embossed graphics though for a number of years -
