My wife is beginning to shoot bullseye competition. She is using a Ruger 22/45 Ultra lite. She wants to add a reddot to her pistol and I just happen to have one laying around not in use. We will be mounting a Bushnell Trs-25.
I've never put a reddot on a pistol before and have no idea where to mount it on the rail. Being there is no magnification to adjust for eye relief how do I figure out where to put it?
OK thank you. I've never been a huge reddot fan, so this is a bit different for me. My wife qualified for league shooting Monday night and shot a pistol with a reddot on it and liked it so I figure I'll put the one I got to use.
About the only person who shoots the two 22/45s that I have is my Granddaughter and she likes them (red dots)a lot. I am planning a "rimfire day" for the next time I get to the range so I might shoot them then!
They are fun little guns. My wife decided a few weeks back she wanted to start competing at our gun club. So we go out to "look" at some different .22s. So 3 gun shops later and she couldn't leave the store without getting one. She use to get on me about going into the gunshop for one item and walking out with a new firearm now shes getting just as bad. I can't complain to much though. She went shooting one time before meeting me. Now we go out every weekend. Her firearm collection is starting to get about the size of mine. Atleast now she understands the addiction!
I'm glad for you, I wish my wife would get interested in shooting. Last summer she saw my son's Taurus Judge and said she liked it so I traded him out of it. I finally got her to shoot it and she put five rounds through it and has not touched it since. Every time I go to the range, I ask her to go and she always says NO!!!! I'm going to ask again on my rimfire day, but I already know her answer
Honestly, I have no idea what made her want to shoot more. I hate to admit it now but I was the guy that gave her a 12ga with a 3" mag and didn't tell her it may bite a little bit. Thinking back on it I probably shouldn't of done that since it could of scared her off. She yelled and cursed and called me names that I've never heard of before but she enjoys shooting as much as I do now. Shes not into the hunting thing and doesn't quite like shooting rifle unless its an AR (she's in the process of building her own now in a wildcat cartridge). She use to spend days at the range with me and never pickup a gun. I like full frame handguns. They don't fit her hands at all. Once she found out that guns come in different sizes she never looked back. Her family is extremely left sided. So with her being raised around the lies of firearms I believe it scared her off. Just bringing safety up on occasion made her more comfortable around them.
