In this thread I will try to tell you how I do my work. I will be the teacher so to speak. I am sure there are a lot of you out there that know more than I do, but I will share my ways, as well as ask questions on your ways. I can always learn, you never stop learning. I have been customizing for many years and now am ready to give some of my tips to others. Below is a picture of a set of Cherrywood that is just plain beautiful. I stippled a design on them and finished with Tru-Oil. I will post new pictures for your enjoyment in the future. ENJOY THE BEAUTY.

Thanks Show Low for the kind words. If there is anything at all that I can help you with just let me know. You probably don't need any help being a wood worker, but I do teach grip making, and it is all free. No charges or hidden charges. I just want to see craftsmanship continue in this old world. Right now we are on the verge of computers taking over everything.

That is a fine choice Raven. I hav had several favorites over the years.
As much as I like woods and the different grains it hard for me to hang on to a favorite for very long, know what I'm talking about? As I have said before "splitting is like Christmas, you get a surprise each cut" and it usually has a WOW factor.

WOW! Didn't realize it had been that long since I have posted grips. Even though many grips have been made and shipped, I have just not made pictures to post.
Any way here are 2 sets going to MI. The customer wanted me to make a drawing of his tattoo and have it put on grips, one white and one black. They are shipping this morning. Tak a look and see what you think.

Hi Machineman
These grips believe it or not have not sold, I still have them and will make you a good price on them if you are interested.
Just email me or PM me either one.
email is cwgrips@gmail.com.
I normally let new wood acclimate for at least 4 weeks sometimes longer depending on the moisture content when I get the wood. If I remember correctly this wood was at 4% when I built the grips.

I still think that mine are one of the nicest grips you have made. I absolutely love them! Olive wood from Israel. I love looking at the grips you turn out, great work!

Here are a few sets that have crossed my workbench. I apologize for not posting more eye candy for ya'll, will try to do better this year. Some of these may have been posted before, if they have, forgive me for not keeping track.
I will post some more in the next day or so.
Enjoy!

Here is a couple sets that I just finished. The medallions are just laying on the grips so the customer can decide which grips goes with which medallion. The Single grip is for a knife he just bought. The wood is Horse Apple, or at least that is one name for it. He has bought a couple sets of the same wood and wanted a single for his 1911 knife.

Here is a set I did for a customer that furnished his wife's cubic zerconia for me to set in the K on the grips. Now I'm not a jeweler so the stones are not perfect as far as spacing goes. But I guess this way you can tell they are custom made and not CNC. The grips are made of Indian Rosewood. Let me have some feedback, good or bad either way is fine, just let me know what you think of the design as a whole.
