The plan was to save up $900 or so in Cabela's points and get another SIG 1911.
I'm halfway there.
However that means I'm all the way there to getting this gun. I hear good things in general, would like to hear anybodies personal feedback?

I don't have as many 1911's as some of our members but I do have a Sig and I do have a Citadel, which is basically the same as the RIA. I have also owned three RIAs. I really like the Citadel and I liked both of the Rock Islands. The RIA's were almost as accurate as the Sig and more accurate than my Ruger. The .45 RIAs never jammed and performed well with every type of ammo I used. The 9mm RIA did have some jams with my reloads before I learned to load them a little bit hotter, but that happened with the Beretta 92F too. If I were in the market for another 1911 I would not hesitate buying another one, well actually I almost ordered one yesterday! I truly don't think you can go wrong with it.

My edc is a ria 1911. I will not spend a lot of money on my carry gun if in the case I need it I can guarantee the law will rip that gun apart. I trust my RIA with my life. At first I had some magazine feeding issues but after a few hundred rounds, it's an ammo eater.

Gdmoody, I've been looking at the citadel 1911. Glad you posted your experience up with one. I like budget carry guns and want to switch from a full frame 1911 to a compact. The Citadel is right up my price range.

The Citadel I have is the compact one. It is a shooter and the trigger is the best 1911 trigger I have ever pulled. For that matter, you had better be on target when you touch the trigger. I know it has a "hair" trigger but every time I shoot it, that first round surprises me.

I own a citidel and a rock island and other Phillipine made 1911s. I bought my son in law a RI 9mm 2 years ago and he just bought a new RI tactical commander for everyday carry. We like our RI guns over here...

IMO I'd rather have a RI 1911 than a Sig-1911. The RI is $500-$600 compared to the Sig $900+. I'd personally buy the RI and use that $300+ difference to buy some upgraded internals/aesthetics. For the same price (if done right) you'll end up with a personalized pistol with quality that is just as good or better than the Sig-1911.

A buddy of mine has a High Standard marked 1911, I think it's the same gun as the RIA, it's from the Phillipines also. So far it eats everything he feeds it without complaint. The only downside to it so far is the sights, they're like the original G.I. issue (real small).

I was reading this post about G.I.1911's and sparked my interest because yesterday I was watching a WWII war documentary on NETFLIXS about a combat camera man that was on Sipan and Iwo Jima.Anyway, he went up Mt.Suribachi with the Marines to put the second and larger flag on top the mountain. He was using color film and on the way up they were taking fire from caves along the way.He filmed real combat footage not fake movies of a G.I. with a 1911 in his left hand and throwing grenades several times with his right hand into the caves.I was moving to see that historic gun in his hand.It got me thinking,it might not be high capacity like many modern auto-handguns but the 1911 is a BAD-A$$ combat hard hitting weapon. It looked to be med/dark brown in color. It makes you want to own one because of it's classic history and it's now on my short list.

So far the only thing I don't love is the sights. Rear sight is very low with a tiny notch. Front sight is all black. I think a little dab of white nail polish on the front sight is in order. Other than that, I woke the neighbors up with 3 mags full. Feels great, like all 1911's do.
