This is something I have done but not often because it can be a PIA.
And getting good blanks (that are good wood) are hard up here.
I would like to ask why your cut out is off center? Or is that just the camera angle?
Like I said I have not done allot of these so your answer could help me out in the future.
Thanks.
Mike
Got it
Thanks I did not even think about that.
I have never made a stock with a check pad so I WANT TO SEE PICTURES!!!!!!! of each step.
Thanks for the lesson
Mike
a couple reasons really. first i ran out of projects for bluing and still had a couple weeks before the semester was over. second metal finish is part of the final grade for stock making and having already giving it a good polish and blue will make it that much easier to refinish later.
I'm really impressed with your project.I enjoy the "play by play" photos and comments. Like G.D. said If I ever attempted this, I would need duct tape or/and a gallon of Acraglass to get the barrel and reciever to fit. Good work Creighton! Joe
Creighton, you're doing some beautiful work, in a couple of endangered fields of endeavor. Keep up the great work, and help to preserve the skill sets you're perfecting now. These are things that most youngsters don't want to spend the effort to learn, and the techniques you're learning need to be preserved. Master them, and pass them on when you get old... Well done, young man!
