My Son found a deal on a pistol and asked if I wanted it.
A Kel Tec PF-9 with 20 rounds fired, finger extension on the mag and a decent
OWB holster for $200. Since I'll be on vacation soon, I need to leave my 1911 at home
as this will conceal better on the beach, boat or in light clothing.
The pistol fits nicely in a front pocket or the holster I got with it.
I picked it up today.
I brought it home, tore it down and gave it a good cleaning and oiling.
Then to the range.
It fed some different ammo both factory and my LSWC reloads without
a hiccup. The trigger, being double action, was a long take up but broke clean. While it's
not a single action with a 2-3lb trigger, it's not too bad.
When shooting at the steel plates from 20 yards, I missed them all but can adjust the sights
to get on target. It was shooting low, left. I guess it's not a match pistol. lol.
I should be a comfortable carry weighing in at 16 oz loaded. No where near as heavy as
my Commander. And for up close and personal work it should do the job with good
hollow point ammo.
I intend to shoot it more tomorrow with some different hollow point ammo to see what
it likes. It may be perfect for those "light" days.

Great price, Father -in-Law had one that I replaced the springs and such. Didn't make much of a difference as for as trigger goes, but did help with the cycling of the slide though. He just had to shoot it to get use to it. That Lonngg trigger will take a little getting use to compared to your 1911

This one feeds everything I've put thru it from round nose to LSWC to hollow point. After a sight adjustment it's not shooting to the left anymore ( the sight was not centered ) although it still shoots low. I can file the front sight to correct that. But at ranges this pistol was designed for, it's pointless.
I've shot pistol competition for over 40 years and expect everything I own to shoot a sub 1" group.
It's just not going to happen with this pistol. Maybe I'll get that thru my head. :)

Probably not...:)

I've got one just like it too. Right down to the genuine imitation faux ivory grips. Now that I know it's made by Kel-Tec, I just may trade it on that Hi-Point that I've had my eye on. :p

I finally have the Kel Tec shooting POA. I added a shim under the rear sight.
I also ordered a holster from Barsony Leather. The pancake style aids in concealment.
Much less $$ than for my WC 1911 holster and works almost as well. Good workmanship
and it fits the pistol well. The pancake style holds the pistol tighter to my body so no chance of printing in light clothing. I've worn the holster all day with no problems. No digging into my side while driving and access is pretty easy. The KelTec is in a plastic bag inserted in the holster until morning. I'll see what a difference it makes.
I'll post pics tomorrow.

When I got promoted, I had to buy my own CCW holster, if I wanted a good one. The only recognized holster, in pancake style, was the Bianchi. I had been eye ballin it for a while. They weren't cheap at the time. I bought it and loved it. Sitting behind the wheel all day, and it never got uncomfortable. I've wanted to get one for my current CCW, but, for me, the price is a tad to much. Great holster.

My wife and I both have the PF-9. I carry it sometimes in the summer, or as a bug. The wife carries her's all year round. In the summer time we carry Federal Guard dog ammo, and switch to Federal Premium 135 gr JHP Hydra-shoks. Decent gun, shoots well, functions reliably, reasonably well made. You got yours for a good price. Enjoy.

Finally got a plastic gun??

Well, the slide is steel. :p
( it does cause a little pain to admit it )

My IPSC open class pistol had a plastic frame ( STI ).
As a matter of fact, I'm expecting another KelTec PF9 to show up here in the next half hour.
My Son found another one for $200 and bought it.

I've carried a Pf9 for about 4 years now. My biggest complaint about it is the curve of the trigger will make you finger hurt on longer range sessions. A little judicial use of a heat gun and a pair of pliers I SLIGHTLY straightened the lower part of the curve. What a difference.. There are aftermarket aluminum triggers available too but I didn't feel the need. Also Tractiongrips ( http://www.tractiongrips.com/catalog/c3_p1.html ) makes the grip area more comfortable without adding any bulk.
