I dropped in on my local dealer, and he had a notice posted saying only 1000 primers per person. I bought a thousand Winchester SP, $34 and some Berry's 230 ball for my .45's. Just a warning, hope it clears soon...I have plenty of LP for my .45's but the sp were getting low.
I see plenty of them available online, but I just hate paying that hazmat fee to get them. The last time I bought some online, I ordered enough so that it didn't seem to hurt as much paying that useless extra fee!
Small pistol have been scarce and I've been checking many sources. Cabelas in Fort Worth dos have some last week and I got 2k, but that was the first they've had on the shelf in many months. I'm stocking up on SP anytime I see them now.
I'm not seeing any decline here in California. Today I was in a Turner's which is a chain store, I usually like to shop at independents, and they had a a shelf of 22's as well.
Cabela's in Lacy WA is hit and miss (mostly miss) for any Pistol Primers, Last week they had one brick of LPP and one pack of SPP. This week when I went there all they had Large Pistol Magnum CCI and only one brick on the shelf. At Welchers in Tacoma they had more than I could afford to buy of both LPP and Spp in CCI Federal, Win and Rem. Seems they are available but the distributers aren't shipping or the aren't ordering properly.
A couple of weeks ago I stopped y the Cabela's in Lacy Washington and bought 3000 S&B small pistol primers; which were the only ones that they had. A few days ago I was at Cabela's in Tulalip Washington and they had some S&B rifle primers, but no pistol primers.
I am thinking that part of the problem with Cabela's right not is the pending sale of Cabela's to Bass Pro. Talking to the Firearms dept Manager, they do not know what is going to happen to them yet. Cabela's will continue to exist but the employees do not know if they will still have their jobs next year.
Cabelas is hit, and miss anymore. All the local shops are stocked well though just picked up 1,000 fed 209A, 1,000 CCI sp, 1,000 CCI LR, 1,000 CCI SR, and 1,000 Winchester LP
Small pistol is hard to find in northern MI. I tested small rifle primers in my 9mm WSF powder, 147gr coated lead and through the chrony there was a 20fps difference, the same with small pistol Magnum primers. They can be substituted but do like to keep my small rifle primers for my AR.
I called welchers in Tacoma again today about a pistol I am interested in, while on the phone with them I asked about primers, they have Federal, CCI, Winchester, and Remington SPP in stock both individual backs and Bricks. If I can get back from a trip to the coast early enough tomorrow I will stop by Welchers. It is about a 30 minute drive from home, fife is at least an hour. I am looking for some place less expensive to buy Bullets than Cabela's though. Thanks for the heads up though.
2 weeks ago I stopped in a gun shop in another town and bought 1K LR magnum Win primers.$39.95.He gave me the impression they had all other primers in stock.
I was at a gun show in Puyallup Wa. today and saw quite a few CCI 500's for sale, only $40 per brick; which I thought was high. The last ones that I bought were $34.
About four months ago, I was over in Idaho and stopped at a sporting goods store and they had a couple of bricks of CCI 500's sitting on the shelf, so I picked them up. I asked one of the guys that worked they if they had more, he went and checked. When he came back, he asked me how many I wanted. I ended up buying 5000, at $29 per brick. If I had more money he would have sold me more. Over in western Washington, small pistol primers are hard to find.
Stopped in Gandor mtn sun morning with a buddy. He just finally got a Bp rifle in .50, and was picking up some RS, a hand starter, a 10-100 powder measure with funnle, and some #11 caps. He's been doing revolver with me a while, and I let him sponge some RS and caps, but he got tired of using his pistol powder measure to get those larger charges.
While there I looked at reloading supplies.
They had trailboss, imr 4064, and 3031, saw one bottle win ball powder and something from Alliant at the back of the cabinet.
Primers, they had cci, and win and federal, they didn't have all types of each, but between the three, they had at least 3 trays of all small/large/magnum primers. No bricks though, and not many extra trays.
No matter how much we have "stockpiled", it will never be enough, right???
