Hi everyone! Giggles here... More on that in my recent intro thread.

http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/threads/intro-from-a-shall-issue-state.166640/

So, I need some assistance and was told this might be the place to get some good advice.

I bought my guy a Glock for Christmas.

(Coolest woman ever right?) ::Laughs::

I need some help on the delivery because I feel kind of weird only giving him one gift for the holiday. I kind of want to make this unique for him. Because love, that's why.

My guy is a current sworn LEO in Virginia. He has about 25-30 years of experience in Law Enforcement, Private Contract Security (Former BW/DS), and is actually a Master Glock Firearms Armorer (as well as other brands), and Master Firearms instructor to boot. To say he's an enthusiast is an understatement.

So what do you get a guy that makes everything himself, and has the best equipment on the market? Something he doesn't have yet. The newest release from Glock, the G43. It's a great backup weapon for CCW. He carries a .380 now as his backup, but it's much wider than the single stack slim frame of the G43.

I have a couple of dilemmas at the moment.

1. I want to make this personal for him. So I'm thinking of paying an engraver who has a laser system local to me to engrave a Shield and another emblem from past performance into the slide. Small of course, and inconspicuous. Like the attached, but blacked out and cut deeper.

I don't know if this is a good idea.

2. I'd like to make him work for it a bit when it comes to opening the gift on Christmas morning. (insert devil smile)

I was thinking along the lines of field stripping the firearm and wrapping each part individually, leaving the slide for last.

Is this ridiculous and/or sadistic? ;)

Other thoughts:

Looking at custom leather holster for this. Need suggestions, preferably under 100 if possible.

I bought him his desired "Meprolight Tru-Dot" sights already for a decent price and those will be here in a couple of days. I was thinking of adding the +2 mag extender also.
Help?

Any other suggestions are welcome!

Happy holidays!

Send him on a scavenger hunt with smaller items on the way.

::laughs:: Show her this thread!!! Inspiration will strike! :)

My oldest brother sent a shotgun to me by sending it out west with our youngest brother. He had made a shipping container and had used at least 2 pounds of nails and screws plus what seemed like two tubes of liquid nails. Took the better part of an hour and all my demolition tools to get that sucker out of that wooden box.

He must have spent two hours overbuilding it. Yeah he's a good brother...

Does you friend have power tools?
hahaha. That's fantastic!

Tuckerd1 has it down perfect.

Do the field stripped parts separately, leaving the slide for last. I'm sure this will be a Christmas he will never forget.

Me too! I spoke with the engraver last night! :)

And IF you actually put his name on it, he can't trade it off!
exactly! Muahaha -- he will have to keep it foreverrrrr

Giggles, if you give it to him in parts, be careful. I once put a gun part away and NEVER found it.
I think the engraving would be a nice personal touch.
I thought of this too but good thing is Glock field strip is only 4 pieces. (5 if you count mag.)
Guide rod, barrel, slide, frame -- I mean I could detail strip it but......... I'd be paranoid I would lose the pieces. ::laughing::

Have it painted... If you can do it with the engraving that would be awesome. I have a guy down here that does hydrographic dipping and it looks amazing when he's done.
Ooo I've seen that done! He's more into a subtle coloring however. I will look up what you've mentioned for ideas though!

Sounds to me like you have a good plan for this, Giggles. I agree with rawright. Go for it and enjoy the suspense on his face.

Ooooh, that's right. Is he a member of this forum? How will you make sure he doesn't see this thread? Things just got a little trickier and a little stickier. o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O
I thought of that too... but luckily he's not a member yet. He's too busy usually to get online. I'll show it to him later on though! hehehe
