Got to get a few more into the shooting world.

So the wife and I got our Taurus PT-809 back in January. Between my not feeling well because of chemotherapy and related side effects, and her struggling to pick up my slack, I haven't been able to teach her how to shoot. That all changed a few days ago and I got to teach her. I was impressed. Once I got her to start squeezing the trigger and practicing good trigger control, she was shooting like she had been doing it for years. She even tagged the bull at ten yards. To make things better, I got to teach my MIL to shoot her S&W M&P .38 yesterday. Also the FIL, who had shot rifles and shotguns years ago but never pistols. His pistol is a Russian Tokarev, date of manufacture 1942. All matching serial numbers, and one hell of a sharp shooting pistol!!! It hasn't been fired in decades but, man does that thing put them in there!! I got to shoot it and I loved that gun. I may have to try to put together a few bucks and pick one up. If you haven't ever had the chance to fire one and you get the opportunity, take it. You won't regret it. If you have fired one, you know what I mean.

Once I build my AR-15, I will also be getting at least one of my daughters shooting. my 7-year-old wants to shoot, my 9-year-old not so much, but that may change.

Here's a quick update. The in-laws are shooting more, but they both have acquired new and different guns. The FIL still has the Tokarev, but has also bought a Taurus PT-111 G2 and absolutely loves it. I think that is going to be his carry gun, if he decides to carry. The MIL got rid of the S&W because it would tear the skin between thumb and forefinger, on the top of the web, and she picked up a Taurus PT-22. She loves that one and can shoot it very well. She wants to use that for a carry weapon if she carries. I know, and agree, that .22lr is not very good for SD caliber, but better that than a .38 that she won't shoot or carry. Besides, she can put those 9 .22lr rounds in a fist-sized group right where she wants it, so why not?

I don't know if I got them hooked, but I did get quite the interest going in them. She absolutely loves shooting her PT-22, and loves that she can shoot it better than he can. That's a little bone of contention for him, he seems to be a little competitive with her when it comes to that...

His is a Russian Tokarev, I believe 1942. All matching serial numbers, down to the two original magazines. It's a very cool piece of history and getting to shoot it was a sheer pleasure. I couldn't believe how well it shot with almost rudimentary combat sights. It would really put them in there with an almost natural point of aim. That 7.62x25 ammo really moves right along, too. I enjoyed shooting it, and he did as well. Maybe next time I can get my wife to try it out as well. I think she was a bit afraid of it because of the age of it.

They are all falling into what they lie to shoot and enjoying it. I'm ok with that, because I like to shoot pretty much anything, so I'm able to shoot more than before, which I can't complain about.
