What's it worth 30 30 bolt action Rifle

I have broken down the whole rifle and the ONLY markings are the Dockendorff name on the rear sight adjustment wedge, and the 2 stamps on the breach ring right below it. Check photos. One stamp has what looks like an "S" inside the circle which could stand for "SAVAGE" perhaps given the above comments ? (cannot for my life make out what the other stamp is).

So from the above comments, the "Savage" theory would seem to make sense. Nonetheless, no other clues can be found. A friend of mine's step dad passed away, and he gave me this as a gift. Upon close inspection it is obviously not a very high quality firearm, and I have found NONE on *********, or other gun sales sites to corroborate info or prices, but I can't see this being worth more than $300 at the very most.
A "gift horse" so to speak, so I'm not going to look at "the teeth" here and complain to much right ? But just a look at the rear elevating sight assembly and you can tell what we are talking about. (welded sheet metal).

I am eager to take it to the range to see the accuracy - could make a simple yet efficient hunter, and backup/spare for friends etc.

In any event, if anyone can shed more light on this it would be great. (magazine also has NO markings except Cal. type and warning notices. No names are found there).

Cheers !!

p.s. It did also come with a decent scope, so HEY ! Saddle up cowboy !

One picture of the action would answer the question although I'm fairly sure it's a Savage. Were they a Model 340 or something like that unless, it was made by Savage for some other retailer. If it is a Savage they usually shoot pretty darn good.
