New to C&R - wish/want list

My interest is shifting from the modern stuff to the C&R type of weapons. Interested in both collecting and shooting them. I sent off for my C&R 03 about 1 month and hoping it will get here soon. While I'm waiting I've been putting together a list of some weapons I'd like to build a collection with. Any thoughts, opinions, feedback that other C&R collectors have is most welcome and appreciated.

What? No Russian SVT-40?:)
You have set high goals grasshopper, may your bank account survive them!:)
A reality check to scratch your itch,
A Finn 39, and a M44 to cover the Mosins.
A Polish TT to cover the TT-33 variants, a Romak will be easier to find and cheaper.
M-1 Garand is just a must have.
Swede Mauser for the accuracy.
That'll keep you busy and broke for awhile.:D

Great list! However, finding ammo you can afford will make it interesting. Forinstance, the nagant pistol ammo is $490 for 1000 rounds. I know of two sources.
The m-44 kicks like a Kentucky mule, from what I've heard. My 91/30 kicks pretty good. I don't care, it's fun! Check for ammo prices. I don't want or have 'safe queens'.

How about a breda 1927

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

@Trap55 - SVT-40 is a good addition to the list!

@Iron Eagle - I hear you on the ammo prices, but with 7 rounds in a Nagant I think I could make 1000 rounds last for a "little" while.

@Joncutt87 - Wasn't the Breda 1927 a Greek assembled weapon with a really strange caliber?

I'd love to form a Trust and get into Form4 NFA stuff, but that is a tad bit out of my budget. Though I do have my eye on a sweet 1919a4 built out as a semi and complete with a tripod. Been telling the wife I could mount it on top of the Suburban and make a Zombie mobile for her.

Time to get your C&R license! You could probably add a hi power, springfield trapdoor 45-70 and 1903 or 1903a3, m1 carbine and a russian sks and not be dissapointed

Flashbang, does the Nagant revolver hold 7 rounds?

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

The nagant revolver can be supressed as well due to the cylinder moving to clse the gap when fired. There is a video of it on u tube-pretty cool.

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

m95 nagant holds 7 rounds, and will shoot 32 long colt. Some people shoot 32 h&r mags through them too. J&G has some surplus ammo now too for the 7.62 nagant. You can get replacement cylinders for 32 acp also, but I've heard they usually need some handfitting so the timing is right.

Looks like no one has much interest in U.S. arms, except maybe the M1 Garand.

To the best of my knowledge, the CZ 70 is NOT a C&R firearm, but it's listed as such in the original post of this thread. Has the CZ 70 recently been added to the C&R list by the BATF?

The CZ-70 is C&R now, you can buy one now from Wideners. :-)
They have it listed under 01 firearms but it is C&R and states so in the listing, just filed it wrong.

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

I have made a HUGE dent on my list and gotten a lot of what I wanted already. Of course when you find one you want and get it, you add something else to the list. LOL
Here is what I got so far and where I got it at:

H&R M1 Garand - local gun store
Underwood M1 Carbine - Empire Arms
Norinco Tokarev Type 54 - local gun store
Mosin Nagant 91/30 round - Aim Sports
Mosin Nagant 91/30 hex - local gun store
Mosin Nagant M44 - Two Wright Arms Co.
Mosin Nagant M38 - Empire Arms
CZ-50 - Wideners
CZ-52 - Czech Arms
CZ-70 - Wideners
CZ-82 - Classic Arms
Yugo 59/66A1 - Wideners
Yugo 24/47 - Samco
Walther P1 - Classic Arms
Yugo M57 Tokarev - Wideners
Romanian TT Tokarev - Classic Arms
Polish TT Tokarev - Classic Arms
Polish Radom P64 - Classic Arms
Mosin Nagant M53 Chinese - local gun store
Swiss K31 - local gun store
Mauser 98K - Samco
Polish WZ48 - Centerfire Systems

I've been really lucky so far and all of them are all matching SN's and in really good shape. Even the M53 is not bad and doesn't have the beaver chewed stock that most have.

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

I'm not sure many Norincos are yet CR...Clinton kinda put the Kibash on Chinese imports, although I am now seeing Type 53s listed as CR when they were not too long ago when I bought mine.

Yeah, I shoot .32 S&W long through my Nagants all the time. I am finding it harder and harder to find it at "8.99/50 lately though...

Now it only gives me about 10" groups at 10 yds, but it is still pretty fun to shoot, and not as pricey as $28/50 Nagant ammo, and no fitting the acp cylinder...

Gotta add a Makarov to the list though...

East Germans are getting pricey, and I am hoping Bulgarians get listed as CR soon...

But get a CZ82 double stack.....it just might become your favorite carry gun...if you don't have a Russian or EG Makarov....

I now have a Baikal Russian Makorov and a CZ82....but still end up carrying the Baikal, only because I like having 4 extra mags even if only 8 rounders and I only have two of the 12 round CZ82s...and the Makarov has Pierce grips and is a little thinner....

The 9x18 Makarov round JHP gives up only 100 fps and 15 grains bullet weight to a full house 9mm Luger and is a helluva lot cheaper to shoot, the gun is a helluva lot smaller and as a blowback a helluva lot more reliable.

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

Thanks... the only Norinco Tok's that I am aware of being C&R are the Type 51 and the Type 54.

Looking for a nice EG or Russian Mak, haven't found a good deal on one yet though. The only Bulgarian Mak that is C&R to my knowledge is the Circle 10 military.

I've got the CZ82, love it.

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

I have had my C&R license for about 3 years now. Let me know if I am wrong, but it appears that the ubiquitous guns from just those couple years back have kinda dried up and prices are rising. I still see a lot of Walther P1 and P38 but really nice CZ 52s? Or Yugo Tokarev in excellent condition? Bought both of those in like new condition for under two hundered. Now prices look like they are closing in on $300. What does this teach us? Buy more guns now! ;-)

PS I am talking excellent condition, not good or very good.

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

If you don't mind a suggestion, I would get a Radom P-83 pistol instead of the P-64. To me the P-83 was more interesting because both the frame and the slide were largely made from heavy-gauge sheet steel stampings. Both are 9mm Makarov, but the P-83 is more pleasant to shoot because of its larger size, better trigger, and better sights.

Just my $.02 - obviously, you like what you like.

PS - I am glad to see you like the CZ 38. They are a unique design, if not a very successful one, and very well made, like most CZ products. They make an interesting comparison to the the British 38 Enfield revolver.

Re: New to C&R - wish/want list

With the yugo zastava m57 being c&r i wonder if the md70 32acp pistol is? It is the baby brother to the M57 and fun to shoot. Heck it even has the removable trigger/ hammer. assy
