MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

1 Attachment(s)
This is a question more for who is in charge of the giveaways.

I have a liberty scout .22 from west germany.
Dismanteld. and in storage for the past 14 years.

When you cocked it, It would not revolve the cilenders. Why ? Don't know.
It has serfice rust on it, so it needs re blueing.

I thought about donating it for the next drawing or even this on if i still have time.

Here is a pic if you think it would be a good idea I'll send it of to Shooter 45.
Or I can give it to who ever At the TX TFF BBQ.

Just let me know if it's a ya or na.

I know it's in some rough shape. but all the parts ar there.

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

if i was more local i'd take your box o parts and give it a whirl and if it came up a decent shooter then pass it to Sam

you'd have to find someone there that'd do likewise

and give it that extra going over as its to be given away

cant give away dangerous stuff eh

get someone good onto it and for sure ..

but i'd do it with what i have here so no cost

i cant speak for anyone else

that would not be a cheap resto .. $50 -$100 maybe ( if you did not already have the gear, chem's etc)

and the time and from this pic, time will be a investment

a good couple solid days and maybe some more

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

whoa.

i'm in Australia

land of gun control and taxes

ok i have to import based on what i will send it back as , or do it as a perminant import which aint cheap and can be rejected easy ..., so $300 AUD say..

on that i will pay a $45 per weapon inspection fee, because this is parts , they may need to consult to check it cant me made into a MG or similar ( yeah .. i know .. but its here remember this is how they play , is fee fare ( lawfare ) )) and thats extra

then theres the duty on all weapons based on the $300 add's $150 and we aint even got started yet on GST or state duty or nothing yet

as stated if i was more local to you , but i aint and the barrier aint the pacific but the damned UN BS rules fee's and taxes involved with anything to do with a gun here ..

if obozo gets 4 more , you'll find out ...

If you want me to restore it I will do it for free as long as it is given to TFF for a giveaway.
Just PM me and I will give you my address.

I think it's a great idea!! Before and after pics..Yummy.
And, I have zero personal interest ( unless you count the fact that I'd like to win it :) ).

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

i almost bet that the revolving problem stems from the tension spring that is on the back of the arm that does the turning of the cylinder. had one that did the same thing and that spring was broke. fixed it for less than a dollar.worth a shot

Bring it to the TFF BBQ. All it needs is a handspring. Last one I fixed I made the handspring from a piece of hacksaw blade.

It wouldnt be nuttn to fix it and get it shootn.

I hear ya JLA but i think I'm going with goofy.
I supply the item, he restores it and we both get to make some one's day when they win it.

I have faith that you could fix it.
I already told goofy i would do it.
And I keep my word. the onlything in this world no one can take from a person.

I just got the gun today and there is a couple of parts missing.
1st is the trigger and bolt spring then there is the grip screw bushing, ejector tube bushing(it's bad) and last is the safety bar spring and ball.
But all is not bad NUMRICH has most of them.
But now to see if the loose barrel is due to the pin or the barrel?
Alum. frame and trigger guard is scratched up pretty bad and the barrel has some pitting.
Thought I would show you all the different stages of getting it back to the range.
Mike
PS. Thanks for the work time2shoot this is going to be fun.
Nothing like sinking time and money into a $50 gun.
Bringing back the dead is cool:D
PSS. This is NOT going to be ready for Mays drawling but look for it for June.

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

Sir Goofy, I eagerly await your updates on this project! I hope to learn something in the process. By the way, those are pretty nice looking grips - not quite to Carl's standards, but I like the color and grain!

goofy 04-13-2012 04:25 PM

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

They are nice looking grips i'll refinish them and maybe add some checkering.I'll have to fill the one dent it is to deep to lift out.But 1st I have to see whats going on with the barrel.

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

This thread reeks of honor and integrity. Yall make me proud to call myself a TFF member.

I just fixed an old spesco falcon (pretty much the exact same gun as that one) loose barrel and all. Handspring was broke off. Not much you can do about the wobbly barrel, unless you wanna mar the frame with a punch. The guy i fixed the revolver for didnt care what i did to the frame, he just wanted it not wobbly so i center punched it in 6 places around the barrel to take out the slop. Really was hardly noticable. The handsprig i made from a piece I cut from a bad hacksaw blade. Worked perfect. Wasnt a bad litte shooter either when i got done.

This is gonna make a great giveaway. T2S, Goof, yall are great for doing this.

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

Told ya all it was in bad shape.
It was in that container for 14 years in my attic.
But i don't know anything about fixing fierarms.
And glad to help out the forum

Re: MAY GIVEAWAY QUESTION.......

Not a problem dale I'll get it together ;)
I will order the parts on Monday.I want to get it all apart and make sure those are all I need.
The barrel doesn't wobble it just turns back and forth(rotates) so that should not be to much of a problem.
And the rest is just going to be elbow grease.paint and hot blueing.
Dress up the wood, put it together and she will be alive again:D
I think this is a great idea!!!
When someone wins it they can see how it all came together.
Thanks for sending it to me to do.
Mike
