JUST JOINED THE CLUB
Got a call from lgs yesterday afternoon, said my Ruger SR 1911 was in if I still wanted it. Well first thing this morning I was waiting for them to open the door. Looks as good as I hoped. Fri will find out how it shoots. Can anyone suggest low cost ammo to break it in and get used to it?
Thanks |
Re: JUST JOINED THE CLUB
Winchester "white box" should work well. Standard 230 gr ball from about any manuf should work well. Give is a good cleaning before shooting and you shouldn't have any problems.

Re: JUST JOINED THE CLUB
Congrats Coastie. I did as Shooter suggests and ran five boxes of Winchester white box through mine to start and not a hiccup. It has handled every thing I have put in it except for some of my reloads using 200gr. Berry's flat point truncated bullets. Consensus here is that I never got the cartridge over all length right. I finally just switched to other bullets and have had no problems. Shoot that rascal and enjoy.

Re: JUST JOINED THE CLUB
Gratz! I recently bought my first 1911 and I'm in love with it, I'm sure you will be soon. Been buying Federal, it's as cheap as any and seems to work fine.

Re: JUST JOINED THE CLUB
The SR1911 is as good as it gets in my opinion. Finest 1911 I have ever owned.
The only changes I made to the gun are the black Colt arched mainspring housing, the Ruger black rubber double diamond grips, and a Chip McCormick 8 round "Shooting Star" stainless steel magazine. Have not had a single problem with this gun, it performs flawlessly! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...99/SR19111.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...99/SR19112.jpg |
Re: JUST JOINED THE CLUB
I haven't fired one, but I've heard nothing but good about the Ruger. If I was in the market for a full size right now, it would be on my shortl ist. Hope the expand the line and make a Commander length.
Congrats on a great gun. |
