30-06
My 30-06 is loaded with 165 gr Nosler ballistic tips,IMR 4350, and a CCI Mag primer. I have no complaints about this load. [accurate and deadly] I chrono this long time ago at 2750 fps. Now we have some [advertised as improved powders] My question is ,,,,,,,has anyone used anything like Superformance or Hybrid 100 to improve on velocities and still get the same accuracy expected from their rifle? I see 2900 fps achieved in the new reloading data, is this a realistic velocity? Also, has anyone experimented with the Barnes 130 gr TTSX with good results?

2750fps seems slow, Hodgdon list that for a Minimum charge, what is your load and barrel length? |

Re: 30-06
The new powders do bear alot of performance merit over older powders. I worked with 2000MR in the .308 when it first came out. I was pushing a 175 gr sierra matchking at 2985 fps before I started getting pressure signs. And the pressure signs was only loosened primer pockets after 2-3 reloads. I could have easily gone higher and pushed the cases to extractor marks and probably got another 100-150 more fps.

Re: 30-06
I am using 57gr of IMR 4350 and a CCI mag primer. Actually my barrel measures 21 1/2". It is an old Win 670.

Re: 30-06
I've used the 130 TTSX in the .300 win mag with velocities in the 3,600 fps range. IMR4350 is a popular powder in the -06 but I've had better results with H4831. Your shorter barrel might put you into a slightly faster powder like 4350 and some of the newer powders may give you some gain in the shorter tube. IMO I would never trade velocity for accuracy. You also might try the Federal 215M primer.
