Changing the B.O.S.S.

Has anyone changed the BOSS system?

I bought a Browning 25.06 with the "muzzle break" (the one in the top of the pic) which is incredibly loud and would like to change to the one pictured in the bottom of the photo.

Anyone do this? Costs? Good idea/bad idea?

As always....thanks for any input.

should unscrew. swap em out.. Maybe a set screw under the adjustment ring. i know the ruger Mini14 target rifles have 4 set screws that actually follow the threading for the boss system.

Lop it off and recrown the barrel! :D

Otherwise, just follow Josh's suggestion and swap the unit for the non-vented one.
They are held in place with a nyloc type insert on the barrel threads. No setscrews on the Browning setup.
If you don't have a copy with your rifle, search on Browning's site for the manual for the BOSS system. http://www.browning.com/customerserv...uals/index.asp

They are available (order a BOSS CR instead of the original BOSS). Get the one that matches your caliber.

I think that I have a solid BOSS here, I'll have a look.

I do have one.

This one just has "Browning........80/95" stamped on it.
