Favorite hot sauce
Ok since cycloneman insists on making us all hungry with his restaurant threads, I decided I might as well jump in. What is your favorite commercially made hot sauce?
I have 3 on hand at all times Tabasco Tapatio Sriracha Others come and go, but these three are staples. What are yours? |
Re: Favorite hot sauce
I love Tabasco and I have a green habanero sauce from a company called El Yucatan or something like that, it's really spicy, but I like it.
I put them in everything from tacos to tater tot casserole. My wife just rolls her eyes at me... :) |
Re: Favorite hot sauce
Those are my 3 picks.

Re: Favorite hot sauce
Texas Pete here. Also another hot sauce that's good is Georges. For hotter stuff, I like Tabasco. They also came out with a milder version that is green, but I can't find it in my small town.

The answer is "All Of The Above" !
The only things I don't put hot sauce on is ice cream and corn flakes . |

I always have some Cholula on hand, IMO, the best flavor of any commercial hot sauce. I drink the stuff straight on occasion. I happened to buy a nasty pineapple fried pie and I drank half a bottle just to get the taste outa my mouth. Shelley thought I was nutz. The pie was fine outside, but inside was moldy... YUK ! Green Tabasco is usually somewhere nearby too. |
Re: Favorite hot sauce

There is a Jim Beam one, that I found one time. Had good flaver, just the right amount of HOT. Have'nt seen it since |
Re: Favorite hot sauce
Tabasco for cooking with but if I'm making buffalo wings I take a bottle of Crystal hot sauce and mix with a stick of butter.

I prefer habanero sauce and sometimes ciptole . When I want lighter then I go with the green jalapeno.

The Scorpion is supposed to be the new "Worlds Hottest Pepper". I believe them. I ate a small bite of one and my tongue was numb for 2 hours. Your hands burn when you handle them for very long. I'll trade ya my recipe for BBQ sauce..... |
Re: Favorite hot sauce
For adding to prepared food, or raw oysters any Lousiana hot sauce.
For making up Chili batches I like "Dave's Insanity Sauce" for heat. |
Re: Favorite hot sauce
Tiger sauce of course!
|
Re: Favorite hot sauce
Devils Spit is my favorite, that's what it's called .

Re: Favorite hot sauce
As far as hot sauces go(not including the one drop in a whole pot of chili type sauce like Dave's Insanity) there isn't a really good one I have found yet.
Tabasco = vinegar flavored water(the habanero type is decent, still not much pepper in it though) Tapatio = vinegar flavored water Louisiana = even more vinegar flavored water Various others at the store = vinegar flavored water Sriracha has a nice taste and a little heat to it. It is good on hot dogs, hamburgers, burritos and in spaghetti. Franks Red Hot(not very hot but a nice taste) mixed in Ranch is my wings dipping sauce. The best sauce I had was the 2 bottles, don't remember what it was, I brought back from Mexico when I was there about 12 years ago and was gone in a couple months. I have not been able to find one that competes here back home. |
Re: Favorite hot sauce
Franks wing sauce is hot enough for me
|
Re: Favorite hot sauce
Frank's original Louisana Red Hot sauce - good on chips, pork rinds, etc. and an occasional slug right out of the bottle, oh yeah GOOD.
Original Tabasco - my favorite on hot dogs with yellow mustard and sauerkraut, :p mmmm. Sometimes hot dogs and onions. Also like it on pasta dishes like Fettuchini Alfredo. :) Tabasco Habenaro - marked extra hot right on the box and bottle, for extra zip. |
Re: Favorite hot sauce
