25-06 close? or? |
Re: looking at a 22-250
Recoil?
Less than a .243. Much less than a .25-06. I'd say somewhere between .223 and .243. No problem with sore shoulder even after a good 200 round day of prairie dog shooting. Power... It'll carry enough enough energy to take varmints/coyotes/etc out to 400yds. Again, more than .223 and less than .243. It'll push a 55gr bullet to about 3700-3800fps. Me being a bit hypocritical since I did use a .22-250 on deer for 5 or 6 years but it's useable on deer ONLY if you're sure you can get good shot placement and keep your shots below 100yds. What ya looking to use it for? Varmints, targets, deer, etc? |
Re: looking at a 22-250
Howdy,I have only shot a 25-06 at one trip to the range. however I have been shooting the 22-250 for 40 years. As for recoil I dont feel any, my buds wife is 5ft tall and she shoots it all the time no problem. When talking about power it depends on what yiour shooting. We have killed every thing from prairie dogs to antelope and deer. That said we can kill some big game with the 22-250 because we use hand loads that we have worked up over serveral years. My self I think the22-250 is margnial for deer size animals and dont recomend it for others. I belive the 22-250 is a good chose because of its punch at long range. My hunting partner and i shoot coyotes at ranges from 50-400yds. And with good bullet placement its a stone cold killer.Thats my 2Cents worth good luck and have fun.

Re: looking at a 22-250
my 222 is a rem 700 and I love it. feels like a 22lr in that platform.
i just have to remember to keep my 222 and 223 brass all segregated. can't rely on just looking att he cases fro difference like i can on most of the other ones! |
