Is anything gonna happen December 21,2012?
 

I personally think its alot to do about nothing.Since the myanns drank there own urine in order to predict the future I dont think im gonna put much stock in there calender.I just wonder after the 21 has come and gone what will be the next end of the world date.What do you guys think?

Mayans made a calendar. It runs in cycles. the big cycle ends and the new one begins the next day. Only the idjits who like to run around with arms raised over their hands and their hands fluttering uselessly while they make sad noises pay attention to their silliness.

What is going to happen is some dopers will take drugs and not wake up the next day, some people will party like there is no tomorrow and wake up with a giant moron sized hangover and bills to pay and a couch where they will have to sleep till spring because they didn't get the kids anything for Christmas. .

Guy I knew back in NY quite literally bankrupted himself over the whole Y2K deal. Ran his credit cards right to the limit anticipating bank records would go POOF! on New Year's Day. Well, they didn't, so he ended up in Bankruptcy Court. Can't help but wonder whether similar goofiness and buy-it-while-you-can scams will be surfacing over the Mayan calender madness.

I've lived through many deadlines for the end of the world, never gave them a second thought. I have it on good authority that nobody can know the day or the hour when the last trumpet will sound, so I don't pay attention. Let people amuse themselves with foolish speculation. Just don't try to impose it on me.

Nothing will happen because of some lame prediction having to do with celestial alignments on that date.

BUT, it is perfectly feasible that some person or persons (perhaps in a leadership position) will take advantage of the hype and hysteria associated with that and MAKE something happen on that date.

I seem to recall somebody saying; "Never let a good crises go to waste". ;)
