Zigzag2 01-12-2004 07:12 PM

Sweet! :D

gpostal 01-12-2004 07:44 PM

sg they are sig arms first stab at the 1911 market ,they make a fine gun ,and the ones i have shot were mighy nice ,and always pricey

but the more i get into the 1911's the more i will stay 70 series ,single stack non plastic ,internal extractors ,all old shool stuff

Shooter45 01-12-2004 07:48 PM

I don't like anything with an external extractor.

JMB had the better idea.

Now y'all gotta bear with me...is JMB...John Browning?...

Shooter45 01-12-2004 08:15 PM

SG, remove your hat and repeat after me.

" John MOSES Browning". :)

He did design the external extractor in the Hi-Power so it really can't be all bad. ( but it just ain't natural on a 1911)

Smokin Guns 01-12-2004 08:25 PM

Reckon i'm learning slow, but sure!...;)

Glock 9mm 72 round doublestack better????
Glock .40 52 round doublestack better????
Glock .45acp 20 round doublestack better???
Glock .45gap 15 round double stack better????
Glock .45acp 7 round singlestack....slimmer????
Sig 9mm same-same
Sig .40 same-same
Sig .357 THE VERY BEST(bill-o-goods)??????
Sig .45 same-same?????
Now the Sig 1911.....ain`t the same

Always the complainers of the 1911 design and caliber, but for some reason......everybody is copying it and WHAT`S THAT?????
That nasty ole fat slow 230grain bullet that kain`t hardly get out of the barrel or go through 27 phone books with killing power after. GO FIGURE?????

pickenup 01-12-2004 09:22 PM

Having only 8 rounds is the killer for me. I like SIG's.

Marlin 01-12-2004 09:32 PM

I'm happy with seven big ones.....

If I can't take him out with the first, or, for insurance, if necessary, the second, I don't need to have a weapon or shoot!

gpostal 01-13-2004 06:34 AM

Now ifn a person really had to have more than 8 rounds they make a looong high capacity ,I have seen single stack 1911 30 rounder

I myself don’t like the spray and pray method , this is the beauty of the 1911 you hit what you aim at ,if it where any other weapon ,I would want more than 8 rounds too

Smokin Guns
I have an extra book about JMB I would be happy to send you. It is a damn good book that tells the extraordinary story of all the guns he invented and his life story.

If you want it let me know.

merc 01-14-2004 04:22 PM

Warpig
please post the title and author of that book about JMB's life.
I would love to get it.

Shooter45 01-14-2004 07:47 PM

Merc,

Scroll down to the bottom of this page to Google Search and type in John Moses Browning. Lots of info.

Enjoy.

John Browning
American Gunmaker

By John Browning and Curt Gentry

You guys HAVE to read the stories about his machine gun tests and 1911 tests.

Hey merc, how about you send me your address by pm and I will send you the book. When you are done with it send it to SG if he wants to read it. I have two of them. Blackgun gave me this one, so I just as well pass it on.

The 1911 is a combat handgun.

I repeat a COMBAT PROVEN HANDGUN .

There is no substitute.
It was designed for the G.I. in the field.
It was designed so the G.I. could completely strip it down to the bare frame using only the internal parts as the tool box and one .45 round to remove the grips. How in the hell would you replace a spring loaded extractor? By carrying one with you........I do not think so.

Mr. Browning got it right the first time.
