Food for Thought . . .

Saw this in an email tonight. I've seen it before, but we should be reminded once in a while.

The world's largest army... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this....

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin .

Allow me to restate that number.

Over the last several months, Wisconsin 's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

More men under arms than in Iran .

More than in France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters,

All of whom have now returned home.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that

The hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.

The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.
*************************************************
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought when next we consider gun control.

Millions of armed citizens that know the countryside - priceless!

Never thought of it that way. It is a very good observation and perspective.
We hunters could make a lot of trouble for an invasion. huh?

wonder what the permit would cost for a "invader" and what the bag limit would be? you know the gov would want to get its pittance.....

China has the largest standing army in the world at 1.5 million.
The U.S. comes in second with an army of 1 million, but you have to consider the 80 million gun owners here also! Now that's an army! And the world has only one way to defeat it!

Not to rain on your parade, but you need to subtract the men and women in the armed services from your hunter count in order to compare Chinese apples to US apples.

You also have to add back in those of us who are shooters but not hunters. I have a few weapons, but I've never had a hunting license.

And then gun owners who don't belong to any shooting clubs, are not hunters, and just occasionally shoot. And, under these circumstances, you could probably count on the gangs to join in, since their turf and lifestyle would be threatened too!

The good news and the bad! The Chinese wouldn't allow them that lifestyle....

Oh, the price of freedom!
