10" barreled 223=60 grs, 2600 fps.

The load is 26.5-27.0 grs of AA2520 powder (depending upon the barrel). no, such loads are not dangerous in 5.56 chambers, either. That 60 gr softpoint bullet still has 2000 fps left at 200 yds, and...

no, talking to anyone who reads this forum, and might consider such a price to be typical.

Re: Revolver or Auto

It's not just "opinion" that what matters is superspeed, inside 5 yds. It's demonstrable fact. Take a look at the Dept of Justice Crime Survey. Every year, over 70% of all attacks are not made with...

They are still endangered, supposedly (if one can believe the animal-lovers about ANYTHING0. The burden of proof is on he who asserts the POSITIVE. There is no proof whatsoever that such tests ever...

Re: couple my favorite Handuns.

I've never understood this sort of stuff. If you want a big game handgun, you want a Contender, in one of the JDJ rds. If you want an auto,it's for ccw defense, and the Automags, etc, don't qualify...

Re: looking for a small 1911

2 foot groups at 50 yds sucks. 2" I dont believe, from ANY shorty 1911, with any ammo, even from a machine rest. One lucky group a year means nothing, you know. You don't get to fire 10 shots, pick...

Re: What Are Your Favorite .22-Handguns ?

Man, I see brand New Buckmarks for less than $250! Sheesh. this was some special model, or came with an optical sight, 10 spare mags, or something? $175 is more like right for a used one.

Re: common good results for 22 ammo or the mfgr of the gun?

I don't trust Mexican "quality control" much, but if a .22 fails, it's almost never a big deal, so whatever floats your boat.

Re: Let's talk about home defense 12-ga loads again

I'm not fatalistic, but I'm also not fool enough to think that I am likely to have 10 seconds in which to go get a gun and return to control a situation, either. Shotgun fans are the fatalistic ones....

Re: The Great Caliber Debate

the families of tens of thousands of dead third worlders can tell you that the 223 most certainly CAN compare to any .30 cal rd. The commies are dumping hte .30 cal as fast as they can afford to...

Re: Dual Purpose Rifle

I favor the AR-15 in 223 for such work, along with a .22lr unit for small game. The AR also handles match shooting just fine, and the .22 unit handles teaching novices. I have not the time, money,...

Re: Interesting .380 ballistics

The Stasboug tests were a hoax, they never happened. The all male goats supposedly used are from an endangered species, among other obvious details.

Reload a .45 all you want, it will never be a...

Re: Minimum bbl length for .233

The fact is that the troops miss with 10,000+ rds for every hit that they get, and most of their hits are poor ones. That missing mostly occurs at 100 yds and less, with a lot of it happening at 50...

Re: Let's talk about home defense 12-ga loads again

You probably won't get to it, so what it's loaded with won't matter. You'll either sink or swim with the pistol. If you don't ccw the pistol around your home, you probably won't get to that, either...

Re: What Are Your Favorite .22-Handguns ?

Re: rifle competitions?

The Ar's in 223 win the high power rifle matches, so those matches must be unrealistic. Of coure, the AR's in 223 win the combat style matches, too. Hmm. The AR's in 223 do well in combat, too. Gee,...

Re: Les Baer / Wilson 1911 Technical Question

I don't. They continue to support the tyrants and garbage with their tax money. That makes them part of the problem. They should get out, and let the place collapse of its own worthlessness.

Re: Revolver or Auto

wrong, staying in the black at 25 yds just teaches you to be SLOW. What is needed is 6-7 hits per second, in the chest at 5 yds or less.

Re: which is the better self defense round?

No they won't necessarily stop the fight, unless they hit the brain. They run about 90-95% effedtive, but there's still the 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 failure. even the 12 ga fails 1 or 2 times in 100, with...

Re: Revolver or Auto

The reality of self defense (if justifiable, by a civilian) is that it will be at 10 ft and less, and lots of missing of the chest will occur, regardless of the gun or load used. So it's best to have...

Re: Interesting .380 ballistics

Depending upon the load, a 380 can beat the .45 all to hell. For instance, .45 ball, from a short barrel, wastes about 1/3rd of its 270 ft lbs on overpenetration of the man. From a locked breech...

Re: 380 as a defence weepon.

Since you won't be firing beyond about 7 yds, the "accuracy" is irrelevant. The Kahr 9mm is plenty small and lightwt enough for the pocket. It is smaller, lighter, much thinner, more powerful and...

Re: Trade'em for what you really want!

Bill never touches those guns. He pays his smiths about $15 an hour, so they are so badly overpriced (for what they ARE) that it pukes me to even think about it.

Re: Overthinking a 1911?

No, the .45 does not "get it done all the time". In fact, even the `12 ga fails to stop men about 1 time in 50 with a slug, and 1 time in 10 with buckshot (the latter usually because some of the...

Re: M1 Carbine - Why the dislike?

Oh, man, what a crock. A 30 Carbine with good hollowpoints would take a hog easily, with one well place shot in the ribs. If you have enough smarts to avoid the shoulder bones, and not take 1/4 angle...

Re: Why No Revolver Rifles?

Re: "Best Cheap Self Defense Handgun Available"

Accuracy is a non-issue for defensive handguns. Having enough power to make your hits have some effect is far more to the point than "accuracy". Most shots miss the chest at mere 7 yds, when you are...

Re: If you could only have 3

The shotgun is unnecessary and inefficient, both for foraging and fighting. So I would pass on it. I"d choose the AR-15 with a .22lr conversion unit, a 1911 with a .22lr conversion unit, and some...

Re: .223 Assualt Rifle

I suggest that you get on of Ciener's .22lr conversion units for either the Ruger or the AR, so that you can practice 10x as much for the same cost in ammo. The .22 units are welcome at indoor...
