10" barreled 223=60 grs, 2600 fps.
The load is 26.5-27.0 grs of AA2520 powder (depending upon the barrel). no, such loads are not dangerous in 5.56 chambers, either. That 60 gr softpoint bullet still has 2000 fps left at 200 yds, and...

It's not just "opinion" that what matters is superspeed, inside 5 yds. It's demonstrable fact. Take a look at the Dept of Justice Crime Survey. Every year, over 70% of all attacks are not made with...

I've never understood this sort of stuff. If you want a big game handgun, you want a Contender, in one of the JDJ rds. If you want an auto,it's for ccw defense, and the Automags, etc, don't qualify...

2 foot groups at 50 yds sucks. 2" I dont believe, from ANY shorty 1911, with any ammo, even from a machine rest. One lucky group a year means nothing, you know. You don't get to fire 10 shots, pick...

Man, I see brand New Buckmarks for less than $250! Sheesh. this was some special model, or came with an optical sight, 10 spare mags, or something? $175 is more like right for a used one.

I favor the AR-15 in 223 for such work, along with a .22lr unit for small game. The AR also handles match shooting just fine, and the .22 unit handles teaching novices. I have not the time, money,...

The fact is that the troops miss with 10,000+ rds for every hit that they get, and most of their hits are poor ones. That missing mostly occurs at 100 yds and less, with a lot of it happening at 50...

wrong, staying in the black at 25 yds just teaches you to be SLOW. What is needed is 6-7 hits per second, in the chest at 5 yds or less.

No they won't necessarily stop the fight, unless they hit the brain. They run about 90-95% effedtive, but there's still the 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 failure. even the 12 ga fails 1 or 2 times in 100, with...

The reality of self defense (if justifiable, by a civilian) is that it will be at 10 ft and less, and lots of missing of the chest will occur, regardless of the gun or load used. So it's best to have...

Re: Interesting .380 ballistics
Depending upon the load, a 380 can beat the .45 all to hell. For instance, .45 ball, from a short barrel, wastes about 1/3rd of its 270 ft lbs on overpenetration of the man. From a locked breech...

Since you won't be firing beyond about 7 yds, the "accuracy" is irrelevant. The Kahr 9mm is plenty small and lightwt enough for the pocket. It is smaller, lighter, much thinner, more powerful and...

No, the .45 does not "get it done all the time". In fact, even the `12 ga fails to stop men about 1 time in 50 with a slug, and 1 time in 10 with buckshot (the latter usually because some of the...
