The marlin 39 is a fine rifle, in my book as good as the winchester or better. I have the 39D. and the 1970 centinial 100 year ann. which is in real good shape. The 39,s are getting hard to find....

I have a rem 700BDL 243. 1982. You can,t ast for a better rifle in my opion. Nice flat shooting. You can neck down the 308 ammo too.

Go with the 243 cal, good all around for varmits, deer . Good to reload also Use a 308 cartiage and neck it down. also Good accuracy and shot.

Any one have a 22 mossberg 342 or a westernfields 47C, which is a mossberg 45A. Both are well made and accurate. Westernfields made from 37-38. good quality .
