I'm not shooting out of a 27" barrel, but Ramshot TAC and W748 are my "go to" powders for .223.

TAC seems to be much less temperature sensitive, if it matters.

Just curious...why do you want to crimp them?

Most people only crimp for tube magazines or semi-autos. (I am assuming that you are loading for a bolt rifle.)

rebuss, I checked mine today (twice) using a cleaning rod and patch. It came out 1:10 both times.

One last thing to consider, IIRC a 3" 100 yard group is deemed acceptable by NEF.

The twist rate on NEF/H&R .243s is 1:10.

You could try a slightly lighter bullet. Perhaps 90 or 95 grain. If you handload, it is worth the effort. If you don't, well.......it could turn into...
