My goodness! That IS inspiring. You did a stellar job.
Tell me....how tough was disassembly. I have nightmares about a screwdriver slipping and putting a deep gash on the receiver.
Thanks for...

Thanks to all for your responses.
Yes, I do have a unique situation with this gun.
Does anyone know a Gunsmith in the Houston area?
I guess I need to meet with one first.

Re: Bluing- Cold vs. Hot-Model 42 Pics

The stock has obviously been cracked and repaired. I think I can sand and seal it to make it look decent.
What do you folks think?
This will be a gun to give to my Grandson or if it looks great,...

OK....you asked for pics. Here are the first 4 of the receiver. As you can certainly see, it needs bluing.
More on the rest of the gun to follow.
My question is how much will it cost to restore...

Response: Bluing- Cold vs. Hot

I intend to shoot some pics of it this afternoon. Since you are a gunsmith, would these help you to ascertain just how prudent this endeavor may be? I don't have a lot of extra cash to dump into...

Re: Colt Anaconda- .44 mag Unfired

Looks like the gun market is doing what the housing market is doing. A bit of "self-reassessment." That's not a good thing.
Is this a "rare" gun?
Thanks!

Re: Bluing- Cold vs. Hot

I'm considering restoring a 1954 Winchester Model 42 .410 pump. It's pretty sad right now (I would give it a 4 out of 10) and I don't have a lot of money in it. Mechanically it is sound but the...

thanks to all in advance!

I've installed and shot this barrel on a 10-22. Great value. Easy install and dead on.

.22 magnum semi-auto pistol?

Does anyone know of a semi-auto pistol chambered for .22 magnum's?
All I know of is the Grendel and it seems really cheap.

Does anyone have any feedback on the merits of cold vs. hot bluing in the restoration of a firearm?

Wink Response: Winchester Model 42- How to dissassemble?

It truly is FUN stuff!
A couple of years ago, I began customizing Ruger 10/22's. I gave a couple of them as gifts and have ended up with 4 customized 10/22's and a 10/22 magnum. Too far off the...

They had factory NOS currently at $152.50. That seems really high! Your expert opinion, please.
And now....where to begin?
Anyone have any...
