JLA, I know what you mean.USMC basic in 52 was the yr I was indoctrinated. Made it back in mid 53 thanks to that rugged friend. Have never stopped adoring the rifle.

according to Bill G, sometime back, its a 1922 3rd model safety auto hammer, large frame,top post barrel latch,coil hammer spring.
I don't need anyting for it just want to give it a good going over....

Alpo. The I J is a 3rd model made in 1922. I can't locate the 38 S&W that are shorts, only one I can locate are the Rem. shorts. Can you or anyone advise to locate thye S&W shorts.

I had no luck locating target grips for my I J so I refitted a new set of Herrett's USA grips I had collecting dust for close to 40 Yrs. Great feel and balance now for some fun shooting.
