That helps, I had a pre-64 back in the 70s, and it was much lighter. It had a standard barrel as far as I know, but it was very accurate! 300 yard shots on coyotes were not uncommon and weren't hard...

I agree with you Jim, I don't think it was made for a "full" bluing job, but when I got this rifle it was scraped on the barrel in many places and I had done some homework and it got a good review....
