Re: 257 Roberts Modern Data

Ok it took a long time to get out there and try them out, but I easily got my 3200fps without any sign of pressure issues. In fact, I only pushed the max listed by Hodgdon's data by .1gr. to get it...

Unfortunately the rifle wasn't ready. I don't rush good smiths either. So I am doing this: Load from 45-47gr two rounds each in increments of .1gr. I will shoot them over a chrony and check for...

Re: 257 Roberts Modern Data

I will rebarrel for the AI version someday. But not yet.

I have a 26" barrel.

I am in NC right now (Marine) so deer season cold means 40's.

I use the 257Roberts as a replacement for a .243....

257 Roberts Modern Data

I have asked similar before, but now I am about to load my test loads this weekend and hate going in blind.

Here is the loading data from Hodgdon's website for my selected powder and bullet for...

Re: Im in the AR club finally

Nice AR! For a scope I would look at a little known company called Konus. I tried one of their shotgun scopes on my 20ga Ultraslugger (H&R) and liked it so much I bought 5 more. So far they have...

Re: Are AR-15's accurate?

I don't post here much, but this one caught me. Too bad Gunhugger was so dismissive. I think he might have had a good bit more to add.

AR's are extremely accurate. Barrel length doesn't really...

Re: Target Rifle suggestions?

I would recommend a Howa after hearing your requirements. I used a 1500 Varminter Thumbhole Supreme with .223 to make some very long shots, but never competed with it. Too many varmints to kill!

Modern Loads for Old Cartridges

I found an action to turn into a rifle. I'll add this to my arsenal, though it may take a few years to actually find the time and funds to complete. No biggie. However, as I peruse available data for...

Re: do Lee dies work for others?

Other companies make dies? I've used others and went back to Lee. If you do your part they will work every time.

Re: .223 reloading

My pet load for a 25" Howa Thumbhole was a max load of h-335 under a 40gr Ballistic tip. Next was the same using Varget. Varget would use that extra length really well.
Nice looking rig!
