I found a hole in the stock near the end of the magazine tube where the "magazine lifting spring" fits nicely. I feel confident the fix has been identified. I won't be able to test it immediately....

winchester model 74 part

After cleaning my model 74 I found a spring on the floor approximately 1/4" X 3/4". I have no idea where this spring came from. Is it part of the model 74.
