Any pistol that needs a refurb at 5K is worthless. On a Glock a refurb kit is a new recoil spring and on an XD it will last 15-20K before a new recoil spring is needed.

Glocks have a real easy test to tell if the spring is in need of replacement.
Unload the gun, double then triple check it's empty. Dry fire the Glock and keep the trigger pulled all the way back...
