So far from what I have learned, a laser rangefinder whether designed for golf or hunting can be used in either setting.
A regular $20 golf range finder that requires a pin found in every hole...

Thanks. I thought so too. I'm looking at Ebay as well. Some golf range finders have a "Golf" & "General" setting so I wonder if the latter does not require a pin.
