Never used the ammo or modal weapon you have stated, however it seems you have corrosion worries, as long as you buy none corrosive ammo you can leave it for centuries.

Bushmaster M4/A3 M-16, thats the first gun I would grab for an all out fire fight, and for everything period. For close qurts and stopping power, my H&K .308 with soft point.
