Re: Homemade Pistol???

Just to clarify. The hammer is not the lock. The lock consists of the flat plate the hammer is mounted to (lock plate)and all the internal works attached to the plate.

Re: Pietta 1858 45 long colt conversion

I would use .452 cast lead bullets. You can't overload a steel frame bp revolver with Pyrodex and you won't get but around 37 grains by volume in a .45 Colt case. If this is a fairly new Pietta it...

Re: Need help identifying this gun

Not hardly, not with a full octagonal barrel. The hammer and lock escutcheons are off an Enfield rifled musket. The trigger guard is way to rough to have been an original and is a dead ringer for a...

Re: Decided to shoot my 1861 Navy. Need advise on lubes, power loads.

I still call B.S. There's no way that cap went off from thumb pressure. If you ask me he stuck it up by the front of the cylinder and fired the gun and is trying to cover up his stupidity. I've had...

Re: Decided to shoot my 1861 Navy. Need advise on lubes, power loads.

There's more to that story than he's telling. Caps are not pressure sensitive. You can put all the pressure on one you want to and you can't make one go off that way. It takes an impact to set one...

Re: Decided to shoot my 1861 Navy. Need advise on lubes, power loads.

A wad under the ball is less messy. Powder charge would be 18-25 grains with a .375 ball. If the cylinder gap is adjustable that means the arbor hole is drilled too deep. Cylinder gap is not...

Re: New toy

Pedersoli's do have smaller bores. I suppose most any .54 bullet would work but the Sharps Ringtail would be easier to work with. Moose Molds makes a 544-480 double cavity for 125.00

Re: Help with identification of gun

38-200 was the British version of the .38 S&W.

It looks to me as if it were heavily brushed on a wire wheel. I would imagine the markings got gone at that time.

If you're called to jury duty you don't have a lot of options. Ms. is the same way Texas is. You can use deadly force to protect your property without fear of being sued.

Re: buck shot black powder shells

Its a finer granulation which will give you a little more powder when measured by volume. It also burns a little faster.
