Re: 1st attempt at casting my own.....failure.

Like you, I recently started casting my own bullets. I've used the cast Boolits website as a learning medium and have received lots of good advice from the members. I originally started with Lyman...

Re: Ground Walnut at PetCo

I use the Petco ground walnut and it works great. I also put a capful of Nu-Finish car cleaner and a piece of dryer anti-static cloth in, which absorbs a lot of the dust. I cut the sheets in...

Re: Facsimile Stag Grips USFA Single Action

I agree that real elk stag grips are better. I just didn't know about Grasshorn. The company I was looking for is Tombstone Gun Grips, but its in White City Oregon, not Arizona. Thanks for the...

Facsimile Stag Grips USFA Single Action

I am looking for a maker of facsimile Stag/Horn grips for a USFA Single Action. I bought a pair for another gun but have lost the name and address of the manufacturer, which I think was in Arizona...

Re: how good is military brass?

I used to shoot HighPower matches with a .308 Match Rifle, and at Regional matches I'd try to get paired up with a Marine, because they would give you their spent Lake City Match brass and the white...

Re: Help with 30.06 reloading

There are a couple of things you can do before resorting to buying a bunch of new stuff: 1) Only lube the main body of the case, not the shoulder or outside of the neck. That should eliminate the...

Re: Pistol cartridge case lengths

I just got a new bag of 100 .44 Special cases from Winchester, as requested. And, they are all the minimum length, i.e. long enough. It took a while, but they got it right.

Re: Lee or RCBS Carbide Die Sets?

Think through why you are reloading the .38 Special. I bought an RCBS taper die crimp set of .38 Special dies and now I wish I had a roll crimp die too, maybe a Lee Factory Crimp Die. Heavy charges...

Re: Pistol cartridge case lengths

The .38 cases had been fired several times, I don't know how many but probably about 5. So, they never got to the minimum length and were never trimmed. But they are now all about the same length,...

Pistol cartridge case lengths

In another thread I mentioned some new Winchester .44 Special cases I had bought that were too short - less than the minimum trim-to-length. One reply suggested resizing and loading them anyway.

Re: Reloading Equipment Value

Most of the equipment shown in your photo is RCBS. The rockchocker reloading kit on the RCBS website is $445 and contains all that stuff and more. I wouldn't pay more than $100 - you still have to...

The Creighton Audette "ladder test" is used to find an accurate combination of components for reloading rifle cartridges. It is fired over 200, or preferably 300 yards, varying only the powder...

Re: .38 special reloading question?

Part of your answer depends on what kind of gun you have and the other on its intended use. If your gun has adjustable sights then you can adapt it to whatever bullet you choose. If it has fixed...

Re: Problem Winchester brass - .44 Spl.

It looks like the consensus is to ignore the problem, run them through the sizing die and load them. As a former competitive rifle shooter, I spent a lot of time trying to get cases as close to...

Problem Winchester brass - .44 Spl.

I recently read about short Winchester .44 special brass on another website, so I checked a new bag of 100 I had just bought. Sure enough, the cases averaged 1.148" in length, when my Hornady manual...

Re: range report 45 acp rainier 200 grain fp

I wouldn't worry about your .45 technique. The way I look at those targets all of the shots would have been in the center of a bad guy's chest except the first one that would have hit him in the...

Re: Range report on my first every reloads

There's a simple way to check your reloads to see if they will chamber. Take a flat piece of wood about 4"x6" and drill an angled hole the same size as a dowel which will fit inside your .45 barrel....

Re: Redding Die Sets

The comment about 100 different opinions is right! Eventually most people who reload wind up using what works for them. I'm a Highpower match shooter and .308 RCBS dies have worked fine for me....

Re: help Finding the right .22lr bolt action rifle

Or, you could buy a used Remington 5-teen, like a model 510, 511, 512, or 513. All of them are accurate and some can be found for as low as $150 if you're lucky.

I've already ordered mine - a USFA Rodeo, 4 3/4" barrel, in .44 Special (custom order, extra charge. I've always wanted a single action and I've always wanted a .44 Special, so now I'll get both.
