Very nice looking .44 Magnum. Years ago I had one too and foolishly let it go. Unfortunately the Marlin that I have is in 30-30 not in the 35 Remington.

When I said lightly lube, that is what i did, lightly lubed and wiped dry. I was sitting here thinking. One difference in the R1 mag and the Colt mag is the magazine follower. Could that be it?
