Exclamation Re: gun refinishing

I'd try a cold blue first such as Brownells Oxpho-Blue. It will eventually wear back off but that will take awhile and it is inexpensive. The $10 bottle would be more than enough for a few...

Re: Iver Johnson Safety Hammer ID - Smokeless OK?

Exactly the kind of detailed info I was looking for, thank you!

My goal is to find one of these to practice restoration technique on with the goal of ultimately shooting it. I don't want to shoot...

Question Re: Iver Johnson Safety Hammer ID - Smokeless OK?

Was this model not built during the smokeless era or does the serial number range mean it wasn't?

Re: weak grip causes gun jam??

I'd never had it happen prior to shooting a Beretta 96 in .40 S&W. I don't know why but I just could not get my grip right and had multiple slide-not-going-fully-into-battery faults.

Re: I bit the AK!

Easy to miss this key point the first few times you put one back together as it appears to have gone together correctly except that it will not latch.

Re: Hidden weapon of anti gunners

Great post. Take every opportunity to understand the enemy. And they are the enemy. Most importantly respond with facts not emotion. Know the statistics of firearms related violence and be able to...

Re: Best Battle Rifle of World War II

From the list, the Garand. From my list the FG42 only because it looks cool. I've wanted one since I was ~12 and saw it in a WW2 German small arms book. Maybe someday the repro will be available here...

Re: I bit the AK!

I have a Norinco 56 and there are many other rifles that will go out the door before it does. Norinco put out some great stuff. If I can find a MAK90 for the right price it is a no-brainer.

Re: Is it Okay to keep AK mags loaded?

There are many threads on dedicated AK forums saying leaving them loaded is no problem. Many stories of mags loaded, 5, 10, or 15+ years ago & forgotten then found again and fired without issue.

Re: AK or SKS

I believe original AK/AKM pattern rifles are NFA weapons as they are full-auto capable.

Re: New to me S&W Model 52: Tips, anyone?

I have a 52-2 that I purchased new in ~1984. It is an amazing shooter that makes me look like I know what I am doing. I hate to confess this but each time I've shot it I purchased whatever .38...

I am trying to determine if the below Iver Johnson in .38 S&W is black or smokeless powder suitable. The seller has been most helpful and has provided the serial as L 195xx. Patent dates are Apr 6,...

Re: Germen Flare Gun

It is a Russian pattern also produced by the Polish & Czechs.

I don't know if the DDR (East Germany) used the same one.

If they did it is rarer but as to value I don't know.

The Polish ones...
