The 1st model out was the 702 tact with the carry handle then out came the 715T flat top

While loading the mag and you feel that resistance ...stop
Take the mag and firmly tap the heel of the mag against the palm of your other hand (or hip).
I think the bullets are not stacking...

Mine have been all fun.
There have been some reports on magazine problems but I've got 4 , 25rd mags ( 3 are aftermarket ) with zero probs.
Between these two rifles , I've Got over 10,000 rds thru...

Waay back in the '70's it was a company called "Imperial " that was quite common for us Canucks, but I found they wern't near as good as a proir brand called " Dominion " that was just phasing out...

It very well could be dried cosmo but it didn't look the same that was on the bolt or as any cosmo coverings I had on other rifles. It's evenly covered like some kind of "dip"...no big deal tho , yet...

The proper finish is Boiled Linseed Oil that usually can be found where you can buy painting supplies. Just keep it clean !
Try not to mess with the wood and if the metal is abit "grey" don't worry...

By looking at the serial number , my guess ,it was made at the Fazackerly factory , July 1948.
The other stamps you described are importer/exporter stamps...which are required.

I've had this scope on my Lee Enfield .
These were top of the line scopes back in the 50's - 60's and were built like tanks ....

It isn't really cut down , just the forestocks have.
Barrel looks uncut.
X2 on the aftermarket mag.
It's a good candidate for a easy restoration.
$175 tops .

You've got a Canadian '41 Longbranch ?
That was the first year of production for them and are getting somewhat rare.
They started production with the Mk1 ( bolt removal was done by a plunger type...
