My favorite handgun is my Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. I don't have an issue with recoil but this gun is not suitable for carry. I was looking at the new Ruger Commander 1911 but it is not cheap.

I had the same problem and the shot fixed it. It did take about two weeks to get the full benefit from it. That was over 5 years ago and still ok.
