Thanks for the parts breakdown but I guess what I really need is instructions on how to break it down. I know nothing about shotguns but have been tapped on to clean and blue it. :eek:

You might also look at the Simmons 22 Mag scope. It's 3-9 power, won't break the bank and even comes with rings. I've got one on my 10-22 and I'm very pleased with it.

I would say try some Mothers mag and aluminum polish. It will remove some fine scratches but if they're very deep at all you might be out of luck. I'm sure someone on here will have more ideas.
