Talking Re: colt single action army

Hmmm...I'll be picky for a change, since certain subjects are getting confusing pertaining to this hi-jacked thread.

The Colt 1873, chambered in .45 colt, was ordered from Colt primarily for...

Re: colt single action army

The pawn shop model is a civilian model, and in my opinion is overpriced at 5K. The dealer probably has less than half that wrapped up in it.

You can get a better idea of what 5K can buy:...

Re: colt single action army

Pertaining to US Cavalry orders, I am unaware of any nickel having been ordered by the military. Their are two ordered types, the original 7 1/2" barrel, and the altered to 5 1/2" barrel. Finishes...

Re: colt single action army

Yep, the government ordered slightly less than 37,000. The new Colt was a big hit during the Indian wars. Well, with the exception of Custer. He carried a pair of Webleys, and he eventually got what...

Re: U.S. troops face Afghan enemy too young to kill

In another place and time, several squad members were killed by similar "children". Things become difficult when you try to rationalize why a twelve or thirteen year old kid had just splattered your...

Re: What is wrong with this pistol?

The item you have is not a revolver......it is a pipe bomb.

RG exported many from Germany prior to being shut down by the Gun Control Act of 1968.

They were later manufactured to German specs...

Re: colt single action army

Ist generation Colts (civilian models) offered many barrel lengths.

1st generation Colts (U.S. models) were produced with 7 1/2" barrels. There were several of these that later had the barrel...

I've taught my five children, and am teaching my eight grandkids. Teaching not only by words, but actions as well.

Now, I look sadly as to what a handful of people have done to the USA, and how it...

Re: smith & wesson .32 in original box

A very nice revolver. I'll side with Jim, 600-800 within the USA fairly easily. It could bring more given the right buyer. Again, a fine looking Smith.

Re: Researching an unusual Enfield No.2 MK1*

On a personal note, the funny part was the guy who plunked down the money was a local banker. He has been getting to people for years.

Anyone know where we can find another nickel plated...

Re: Researching an unusual Enfield No.2 MK1*

To help shed a little more light.

At that period in time Colt had two manufacturing facilities, one in the USA and the London location (established 1853). The London factory resulted, in part, due...

Re: Researching an unusual Enfield No.2 MK1*

Well, the research of the war story, and the revolver, is over.

As posted prior, against my better judgement, I agreed to research this piece for a friend whose dad had left it to him after his...

Re: original ?

The "spotted" area I was in reference to had nothing to do with the case hardening, which appears to be normal for age and condition.

What you...

Re: original ?

Based upon the few pics, yes, it appears to have been spotted at some time. By spotted, I mean as in touched up only. It still looks fairly nice though.

Re: Researching an unusual Enfield No.2 MK1*

The plating on this revolver does appear to be factory applied (e.g. copper, nickel,...
