Jack can you expound a bit on this? I have a friend that wants to try and get that green GI color on a 03 Springfield. When do you add the copper sulfide, do you make it a solution first and add or...

Looks like an American 180 and they were made in Austria originally and they tried to sell them to prisons for their guards, if I remember correctly. I had one for awhile and while fun to shoot,...

Two things point to new/modern to my observation, 1) they are plastic hulls. old shells would have been paper 2) 'Made from recycled/recyclable materials' printed on the box. Old boxes would not...

Re: Blackhorn 209 Powder
See my #4 reply. I use it in my 1886 Winchester in caliber .45-70 made in 1887. It was my grandfathers rifle and I use it at least once a year for our club's buffalo shoot. A .40 caliber or better is...

Re: 1911 on full cock?
Well battlefield and 'the streets' aren't quite the same thing, at least I hope I'm in a higher probability of danger on a battlefield than I am on a street in the USA, but cocked and locked is what...

Re: 1911 on full cock?
If you need it in a hurry, the way I'd go. I used to carry mine cocked and locked. I now use a Sig P220. Safer I think but still almost as fast a first round, almost. With training I think you're ok....

Thanks for the info Jim K. I had heard of the Blish locking system on the Thompson but never really looked into it any deeper. Sound like you did.
Appreciate it!

1928 Thompson
Got to shoot a Thompson model 1928 this past weekend. Was fun, BUT do all of them have like 8 or 10 pound triggers? Sheesh, no wonder they are full auto. Can't hit the broadside of a barn with a...

Re: Blackhorn 209 Powder
As long as you are using modern primers to ignite the powder I've had real good luck. I use in my .45-70. It is a nitrocellulose powder so clean up is just as easy as for modern smokeless powder, for...
