DD, in 1985 I shot an average of 1000 rds a week with my .45, 300 rds 3times per week practice, some more on Saturday to shoot it dirty with match ammo, then a match (or TWO) every Sunday from March...

Funny, but in my quest for my "Walking around" Varmint gun I found a SWEET used Ruger #1 in .218 Bee in a gun shop in Ft Wayne for like $750...
The Bee is a Hornet for repeaters, so I was drooling...

BTW, I used to hunt squirrels, rabbits and pheasants with 6s and grouse and anything clay with 8s....but I sometimes mixed and matched intentionally or unintentionally and had luck on any with either...

My FAVORITE way to hunt squirrels is to WALK to the hardwoods with a scoped .22 slung and my Savage 220 12 guage single modified in my HANDS...the shotgun did well on...

It held ALL the benchrest records in the late 50s, 60s and early 70s!
The .223 used the .222 as the starting point....and was actually developed from the .222...

I have seen my 50 gr Vmax Hornadys at shops and at the gun show a few weekes ago and thought they were a little too high priced, soooooo....
