Re: To those of you who weigh every charge
Read the article, as well as just about all of John's work for years. Doesn't deter me one bit from weighing all of my low production rifle rounds. I work mostly with medium to large bores (US) and...

Welcome to TFF and handloading.
Sorry to be short and quick, but I recommend for basics: There is a wealth of info just above in the stickies. You'll want to crimp for tube magazine use. When you...

Re: Starline Brass
I don't think you have to worry too much about Starline brass, it's a good product. I use it in full power .41mag loads and it can take it repeatedly just fine.

Re: Ruger's No 1
Speaking of barrels,
NOTE: I have a good friend who purchased a used #1S (.45-70 w/Ruger barrel) in excellent condition only to find that it couldn't shoot worth a hoot. After a multitude of loads...

Re: Ruger's No 1
That seems to be the general consensus.
Yes, off the top of my head, Douglas for one, made a lot of the earlier barrels; not that Douglas can't make good barrels, but Ruger had no control over...

Re: Live in NY... Give up your guns
Think what you like, you're entitled to your opinion, so am I. I don't think what I read will fly. Mass civil disobedience would be the result and seriously, who wants things to go that route.

Read it and plenty of other articles by John over the decades as he's one of my favorite writers and I very much respect his work.
That being said, I still weight each hunting rifle load (and...

Re: Ruger's No 1
If I had to choose, I'd have to say the Ruger #1 is my favorite rifle. I currently own 5 #1s both used & new (and a #3) and I'm always looking for another that suits my fancy. Although I do love...
