Ammo for a 1951 Marlin 39A

Am wondering if i need to shoot standard velocity 22's in my newly acquired Marlin 39a, vintage 1951. Or can it handle anything hotter? Thanks, John P.

Help with Savage Sporter 23A date?

I recently bought a Savage Sporter 22 LR model 23A from my neighbor. It's # 117XXX. Does anyone know a way I can perhaps determine this old gun's vintage? Thanks, Jwp48
