Re: 1911 after market parts

STI or Ed Brown. STI parts are EDM cut and Ed Brown CNC.

Re: Which one should I get?

They are not made by the same company. American Classic is made by Metro Arms and RIA is made by Armscor. The RIA is an accurate reproduction of the 1911A1 and has better metallurgy. Look for the RIA...

Re: STI Spartan or Para Px1445eb?

The Spartan, without a doubt. Internals are all EDM bar stock. Very good quality control on Slide and Frame hardness. It's the most accurate 1911 I've ever shot and I prefer the parkerized finish for...

Re: Stainless or parkerized?

When I had my gunshop years ago, I did bluing, parkerizing and EN. I prefer the look of a good blue job, but the park was the best finish for a work gun and less labor. I just never cared for SS.

Re: 1911 models shipped to California????

Interesting discussion. STI will not ship to or seek California certification as protest to the micro-stamping statute that Arnold signed. It has now become a political issue and more manufactures...

Re: Stainless or parkerized?

Stainless or carbon steel; it's really about the heat treating. I like a good park, but I have both. I don't worry about the parkerizing wearing off because it is an easy process.

Re: Which 1911 should I buy?

$1000 out if the box? I'd look a STI Trojan.
Under $1000, you can't go wrong with the Rock Islands.

Re: Opinion, bullet weight, .45 ACP

230 grain Hornady or Federal Hydra Shocks are hard to beat and are predictable, otherwise I'd use a 230 grain soft lead with a large meplat.

Re: What is so wonderful about an 1911?

Old Eagle,

JMB must have been inspired when he designed the 1911.

Spend a day at the range with a 1911 and all your other handguns and your question will be answered.

1911s are like Harley...
