Re: WHAT MODEL OF COLT DO I HAVE

Technically it's a Government Model clone. M1911 and M1911 A1 were the Ordnance Department's nomenclature for the Colt auto loading pistol. Colt dubbed the commercial version the "Government Model".

Re: Colt 1918 - is bluing the correct finish?

Colt M1911 and Government Model (commercial version - serial number starts with a "C" but could start with a "W") were oven blued. The metal was heated in a coal fueled oven with bone mixed in. The...

Re: U.S. revolver company

The OP didn't state whether it's a hammerless or hammer model. If it is a hammer model, that serial number would date it to 1921 according to Goforth's book.

Both Colt and Winchester have made far too many commemoratives for them to ever have much collector value. They generally keep pace with shooter versions of the same gun.
