Don't over do the crimp. The Lee factory crimp die is completely adjustable from a very light crimp to a bullet smashing heavy crimp. To heavy a crimp will damage the bullet and reduce accuracy.

My understanding the Heated Popper is designed to destroy the integrity of the brass thus rendering it useless as far as Ammunition is concerned. It has value as scrap, not as reloadable cases.

Could also be a grip problem. Have you tried shooting it with one hand making sure the support hand is out of the picture and not engaging the slide stop inadvertently?

I purchased 12 for 45 acp. My home cast 200gr SWC are Wheel Weights with some pure lead pipe mixed in, I'm sure that's less than 12 and they work great, no leading, with 4.9gr WST.
