Re: pointy 30-30 loads

If you look around you might find some light loads using slow pistol powders (I have some data for lead bullets and pistol powders somewhere out in my "Gun Room", I'll see if I can find it).

Re: pointy 30-30 loads

I have a Handi-rifle single shot and I load "pointy" bullets for it. I have some Hornady 155s, and some surplus M2 FMJs that I use 150 gr. JRN data from my reloading manuals. Starting loads of...

Re: Primer problem?

Just make sure the primers are all the way in the primer pocket, bottomed out. Don't be too concerned with measurements (.002"-.005") below flush, just all the way down. Use enough pressure then give...

Well, I would suggest you slow down a bit. Get 2 books; The ABCs of reloading and Lyman's 49th Edition Reloading Handbook. Read these (and pay attention) and you'll have a good idea of the...

Re: Primer problem?

I believe 99% of misfires can be attributed to seating problems; not seated completely. Federal primers have been reported to be "soft", but I haven't had access to Federal primers for quite a while....

Re: trailboss for 'normal' use?

I wouldn't try it in a Garand due to the narrow parameters of gas volume needed to safely operate the system without damage.

I don't weigh each powder charge for accuracy reasons. Normally, when working up a load, I'll weigh each charge for consistency, so I can determine how the particular load works in my gun. How can I...
